_ Equality and honour above all else.

From the moment that a brother becomes a member, they are immediately equal. There is no leader, no hierarchy. Every member contributes what they can and we grow together as we fail together. This is why members are chosen carefully. We try to gain from each other's strengths in order to keep the chain strong and continuous.

So much about what we believe in is rooted within the members who join that it would be difficult to describe everything.

_ The Beginnings

The story of the Brotherhood begins with the union of Theta Kappa Phi and Phi Kappa on April 29th, 1959. This National fraternity gave the first push to the Brotherhood of Omicron of Concordia University.

Traditionally fraternities find their moral foundations in Judeo-Christian ethics, and the belief in brotherhood based on love. Each and every fraternity stresses respect for this common religious heritage. Religious ideals played an important part in the formation of both Phi Kappa and Theta Kappa Phi. Both limited their membership to Catholic men, and over the years many prominent statesmen, businessmen, professional men and religious leaders have been associated with the Fraternity and have given much of themselves to it. However, a problem was immediately felt within the Concordia Chapter as the more liberal views of the Chapter became conflictual.

The Schism

Finally in January of 1964, the remains of the Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity were laid to rest. A daring step had been taken by the remaining brothers of the now defeated fraternity. Unhappy with the treatment from the national organization and realizing that a difference existed in the ideals professed by themselves and their National Brothers, they made the courageous decision to form their own organization. Ironically, the Brotherhood was slightly ahead of politics as the Hamilton accord came into effect in 1965.

From their enlightened ideology, the Brotherhood of OMICRON was formed. Based on a system of friendship, brotherhood and equality, the new organization pushed through and excelled both academically and socially. Many years have now passed and many members have come and gone, but the Brotherhood remains. Growing stronger every year in both enrolment and financial strength, the brotherhood has achieved a success formula for the perpetuation of their ideas.
